Steve is Chartered Tax Advisor and has specialised in VAT since 1975. Steve began his career as a VAT Officer with HM Customs and Excise and then moved into the profession, where he worked at senior level with two international firms of accountants, before forming Covertax with Tony Borman.
Steve advises on all aspects of UK and international VAT and has particular expertise on property transactions, charities and the Education Sector. Steve has extensive experience of VAT litigation and has represented many cases before the Tax Tribunal. He also undertakes expert witness work on VAT-related matters, including professional negligence.
Unusually for a leading specialist, Steve also has a broad grasp of the interaction between taxes, which means that he is able to give clients an all-round perspective on their particular problem.
Steve has overall responsibility for our technical services and advice. |

Tony is a former HM Inspector of Taxes who specialised in investigations work with the Inland Revenue, before moving to the profession with a Big-4 firm to defend clients under investigation.
Tony handles all types of investigations, especially those involving alleged fraud or complex issues. Like Steve, Tony has very wide experience of tax litigation both in the Tribunal and higher courts.
Tony has extensive knowledge of Construction Industry issues, and is also very experienced in Fee Protection Insurance, where he has acted as an expert advisor to a number of insurance companies. He is also a very experienced negotiator and problem solver, key qualities needed in dispute resolution to avoid the cost and uncertainty of litigation.

Nina is a Chartered Tax Advisor who has specialised in VAT for her entire career. Nina joined the profession straight from University and trained at a Big 4 firm where she qualified and developed professionally. After ten years Nina took a maternity break before returning to the profession.
Nina has a wide range of VAT expertise and also has extensive experience of VAT appeal and litigation work. She enjoys providing high quality advice and persevering, often against the odds with HMRC, to get the best outcomes for her clients. |

Nikki is responsible for managing client services and running all non-tax functions of the company, from reception, accounts and client facing service issues, through to the back-office administration activities which keep the wheels turning.
Nikki is a qualified PA and administrator, but mostly enjoys personal contact with clients and ensuring that they receive the best service that we can give. |
